Description

Arrival
"Upon the brilliant salutation of the sun over unfamiliar hills, I found myself in a vast land alien to me. The sun, rather suns, were spectacularly radiant; however, though they appeared to glare and rain sharp rays upon the earth, their light was but a gentle caress of angelic glow.

I made an attempt at standing but found myself too fatigued to do so and could merely prop myself up on my elbow. It seems that the magnificent galleon on which I had traveled was nowhere to be seen, for, to my most stupefying dismay, the Pacific Ocean--or any other ocean sailed--was not within the range of my robust eyesight. I had been shipwrecked in the middle of a great savanna!

I found myself in an untimely state of panic, but to my pleasant surprise, I felt a cool zephyr caress my cheek and was instantly calmed such that my heart was quiet enough for me to hear the cry of the falcon above. It was that moment a colossal umbra cast itself overhead, enveloping me in a cooling shade. Perhaps a cloud was traversing the skies, intercepting the effulgence of the suns? Nay: such a conjecture was too simple, too naive to prepare me for the sight my eyes would behold.

I peered up to the mysterious shadow-caster and felt my heart leap and bound like a panicked gazelle. Standing, nay,
towering naught but two rods away was a titan! A behemoth that seemed to be a chimera of fox, kraken, and something foreign to my knowledge. Its four eyes scrutinized me as though I were a insect under a microscope: something to be studied, and if all fares well, released. However, one might expect my reaction to be of the hysterical nature, but there was an air of peace and serenity, despite this giant standing before me.

With naught but a sound, the giant took a great step over me, and continued walking on the knuckles of its feet.

Finding new strength and vigor in my legs, I stood and watched the colossus disappear into the distance.

I resolved to discover and learn about this foreign land and with my head held high, I stepped out into the unknown."

Today, I bring to you a vignette and a map. I'm particularly proud of this one. I finally started seriously messing around with filters, textures, and layering components so I could get a nice vintage feel to it. (Well, actually I have a version that looks more vintage than this but I posted this because it has more color).

I decided to put it under Landscapes & Scenery because... well... it's a map and it seemed like the best place to put it =/

Trivia
+The unnamed narrator was a naturalist heading to the New World. Needless to say, he ended up on a detour.
+Many of the names are derived from gods, deities, and spirits that reside in Pojovii.
+If you can pronounce the names, I'll give you internets.
+If a river seems to lead to nowhere, it probably fed into a water table.
+Mt. Heshnatopses is not a volcano *hint hint*
+The Sea of Narnaerotep was a volcano. (Guess what happened...)
+Pojovii is actually the name of the moon on which Lylos was born; but this is a different Pojovii.
+If you want to know more, just ask! :)

a realm of this magnitude is refreshing indeed.
